John Baloyi is a Johannesburg-based photographer. He has loved visual arts from a very young age and hails from a background in drawing and graphic design.
Inspired by photographic influences on Instagram, John started shooting in 2013 but began his career full-time in 2017. He is known for his fashion and portraiture, as well as street photography from around his home city.
John’s style documents the unique experience of black people through a surreal, Afrocentric lens – portraying them as works of art. His intention is also to change his subjects’ perspectives of themselves.
Since picking up a camera, he has collaborated with an array of fashion brands and other clients.
