Jessica MacCormick

Jessica MacCormick

A native New Zealander, Jessica MacCormick has lived in different corners of the world, stretching from Cyprus to Cambodia and London to LA.

The cinematic, documentary quality of her photography lends itself to her explorations of character, environment and the nuanced life of everyday things.

A winner of the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Britain, Jessica’s affinity with the camera began as a child. One of her earliest memories is of being in a darkroom with her dad, hypnotised by images emerging from the quiet pools of chemicals.

Jessica took pictures throughout her childhood but her photographic career only crystallised after journeys into anthropology, film and new media. She says she wouldn’t be the photographer she is today without the way all these things inform her work.
